Okyay has said that Turkish business delegation is keen on the manufacturing sector, tourism, power generation and several other areas.
Turkey is looking to boost the bilateral trade volume between the two countries and also looking at increasing tourism between Sri Lanka and Turkey, according to the Turkish diplomat.
According to the Department to Commerce, current trade volumes are around US$ 128 million with the trade balance being in favor of Sri Lanka and this is expected to be bettered this year.
Turkish exports to Sri Lanka consist of textile products, chemical substances and products, machinery and equipment, food products and beverages, metal equipment industry products, motor vehicles, plastic and rubber products and others.
Mr. Okyay said that Turkish Airline is also looking at introducing two direct flights to Sri Lanka from mid this year.
“This is due to fast connections Turkish Airlines offers from Istanbul to other destinations,” he added. Currently, Turkish Airlines operates to Colombo with a stopover in the Maldives.
